Personal Project (mostly)
TECHNICOLOR
What began as an exploration of working with colored gels on strobes, morphed into photographing various junk foods and candy with saturated colored shadows. Using a mixture of techniques with lighting, sometimes gelled to get the shot in camera, other times working in post to achieve a particular look, I continue to enjoy making these and was commissioned for a small four set series for advertising posters for A.G. Ferrari in San Francisco, CA. Later I was commissioned to make the donuts shot (immediate right) for an editorial client. In the fall of 2020 a few of these images appeared in "Flavors of Photography", a fine art show with other Bay Area photographers at Palette Gallery in San Francisco, CA. Those images remain in their permanent collection. As of fall 2022, another set is at The Beth Urdang Gallery outside of Boston, MA and I'm honored to be one of their artists.
